Create a Continuum to track progress

An Assessment Continuum can. be used to track Learner's progress.

Within Evidence for Learning you create an Assessment Continuum by creating an Assessment Aspect/s (sets of values) and then adding them to an Assessment Schema.

There are some pre-loaded Assessment Aspects to give you some ideas to get started. You can choose to use the Preloaded Aspects as they are or adapt them to suit your school.

Alternatively, you may choose to create an Assessment Aspect from scratch.

You may choose to use one Assessment Continuum across your setting or you may choose to assess certain Frameworks or Pathways using different Assessment Continuums.

Two Simple steps to create an Assessment Continuum:

1
Create an Assessment Aspect/s
2
Add an Assessment Aspect/s to a Schema

What are Assessment Aspects?

An Assessment Aspect is a continuum / set of values to track learners progress e.g Emerging - Developing - Secure

Each Values has a:

  • Value Name e.g 'Emerging'
  • Short Code e.g 'E'
  • Display Order e.g '1'
  • Colour e.g 'Orange'

Step 1a -Create an Assessment Aspect (pre-loaded)

Step 1b -Create an Assessment Aspect (from scratch)

Step 2 - Add an Assessment Aspect/s to a Schema

The Next Step:

  • To assign the Schema to items within a PLG (Personal Learning Goal), a Framework that is specific for one Learner then here is a link to the relevant guide - "Assign a Schema to a PLG".
  • Alternatively, you may want to use the Schema to asses items that are in a Framework (not a PLG) and that will be used with multiple Learners e.g. a Curriculum or an Accreditation Framework then the next step if you have not done so already, is to create an Assessment Framework and here is a link to the relevant guide - "Create an Assessment Framework".
